PERFECTIONISM
- Techniques for mastering perfectionism
- 6 parts, control your own pace
- For mobile, tablet or computer
- Psychologist developed
Perfectionism is about the excessive pursuit of unattainable or unreasonable goals. Life is often black and white, and there is no middle ground between success and failure. At the same time, it is difficult to be satisfied and content, even when it is “perfect”. The tool focuses on awareness in relation to the inner dialogue (self-criticism). It also deals with «rules of living», which invite exploration of the origins of mindsets and behaviors, and alternatives to the high demands and standards that have been established. If you become more aware of this, you can consider whether the high demands and standards you live by actually help you achieve your own goals in life. This may be related to avoiding constant challenges at work or in close relationships, as a result of the high demands on yourself and/or your surroundings.

Who is it suitable for?
Do you tend to make unreasonable and unrealistic demands on yourself and the world around you? Or do you struggle with excessive self-criticism? This tool can help you become aware of what you tell yourself and what you think and do so you can change old patterns.
What does the coping tool contain?
The tool gives you insight and tools to understand and manage perfectionism – and find a better balance in the demands you place on yourself. It consists of six parts:
- Perfectionism
You will learn what perfectionism is, how it can be harmful, and how unrealistic demands create stress. You will learn about life rules and how cognitive therapy can help you change them. - Demands and criticism
You will explore the connection between high expectations, performance anxiety and self-criticism. You will learn how room for error can lead to an increased sense of mastery and a better quality of life. - Living rules
You will map deep thought patterns that influence how you think and act. You will learn to challenge negative life rules and replace them with more supportive and flexible alternatives. - Self-compassion
You practice meeting yourself with understanding instead of criticism. Exercises in forgiveness, recognition, and praise help you strengthen your self-esteem and reduce shame. - The way out
You will learn to adjust demands, accept mistakes, and set boundaries. You will explore how vulnerability and boundary setting can lead to stronger relationships and better mental health. - Prevention
You summarize what you have learned and create a plan to maintain the changes. You will be supported to continue your development with useful strategies and access to the tool bank.

The course gives me room to reflect on the "complex" that I have not previously done. Now it is beginning and I am well on my way in the right direction.
