CHANGE FEELINGS
- Techniques for changing emotions
- 6 parts, control your own pace
- For mobile, tablet or computer
- Developed by psychologists
Emotions are one of our most important signaling systems. When we are unable to deal with difficult emotions, it is common for us to react to these feelings by becoming anxious, depressed or doing things that are foolish for ourselves, such as substance abuse, eating disorders, or other unfortunate avoidances and regulations. By getting help to be able to recognize and give meaning to the emotions that are there, many people experience that the symptoms are released and that they experience more holistic meaning in life. This tool helps one to unlock old stuck emotions using experience-based exercises.
This tool builds on “Understanding Emotions” and is based on Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT). Users are guided through a series of exercises where they practice facing difficult and stuck emotions from the past. We recommend going through “Understanding Emotions” before taking this tool.
The tool is created by a psychologist Anne Hilde Vassbø Hagen and psychologist / Specialist in emotion-focused therapy Jan Reidar Stiegler.

Who is it suitable for?
This tool is suitable for those who want to work on changing stuck emotions. You should have gone through the tool "Understanding Emotions" first, or be familiar with Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT). You must be motivated to carry out practical exercises that require time and effort.
What does the coping tool contain?
The tool provides you with insights and exercises to understand, process, and change difficult emotions. It consists of six parts:
- Introduction
You will learn how inner dialogue can trigger and reinforce shame, and how you can address this with reflection and exercises. You will write a letter from your inner critic and watch an animation that increases self-understanding and helps you develop self-compassion as a counterbalance to harmful self-criticism. - Difficult feelings
You work on identifying and processing such feelings through writing and reflection. You learn to use an emotions diary to explore situations, bodily signals, feelings and needs – and thus understand your own reactions better. - Self-compassion
Self-compassion is about meeting yourself with understanding instead of criticism. You will learn the difference between self-compassion and self-pity, and how empathy with yourself can strengthen resilience. Through the exercise Soothe the Self and Dialogue with Your Inner Child, you will practice processing wounds and valuing yourself regardless of achievements. - Relationships
You reflect on your upbringing and relationships, recognize your own needs for closeness and distance, and learn to understand and handle conflicts better. You gain insight into the difference between healthy and unhealthy conflicts and how sharing can ease emotional burdens. - The past
You will learn that everyone grieves differently, and that complicated grief can arise when emotions remain unresolved. You will explore old wounds and stuck emotions from childhood that can affect adult relationships, and you will be helped to care for yourself and find a way forward. - Forward
You summarize how self-criticism, shame, anxiety, relationships and the past are connected. Through exercises, you have been given tools to face and relieve painful emotions, understand the connection between past and present, and develop self-compassion. You are encouraged to use the techniques further, take small steps, be patient and seek support if needed for lasting recovery.
It was very clear and easy to understand. Nice variation between reading, seeing/hearing and doing.»

The course gives me room to reflect on the "complex" that I have not previously done. Now it is beginning and I am well on my way in the right direction.
