What does the coping tool contain?
The tool provides you with knowledge, reflection, and practical strategies for understanding and managing ADHD. It consists of six parts:
- What is ADHD?
You will learn what ADHD is, and how attention, activity and impulses are affected. Through simple surveys, you will gain insight into typical challenges and additional difficulties, and how self-regulation is connected to everyday life. - Insight
You will explore both the benefits and challenges of ADHD, and learn how causes and measures are connected. With the STOP form, you will get a concrete tool for better self-regulation and balance in difficult situations. - Cognitive therapy
You will be introduced to the ABC and ADE models, which help you understand the connection between situations, thoughts and feelings. You will practice challenging negative automatic thoughts and finding more appropriate perspectives. - Regulation
You will get tips for coping strategies in everyday life, and learn how emotions and activation can be regulated with simple techniques. You will become familiar with the concepts of the thinking brain, the emotional brain and the tolerance window. - Concerns
You will learn how ADHD affects relationships, school, work and lifestyle – and receive specific suggestions for adjustments that can help. Relaxation techniques such as breathing, muscle relaxation and visualization provide support for more calm and coping. - Prevention
You look back on what you have learned and create a plan to prevent relapse. You practice recognizing warning signs and using strategies that help you move forward. Small steps and activities you enjoy become an important part of maintenance.
